Another fun food science experiment that your kids will love is making their own homemade butter. Many of the foods that we eat are created by using basic chemistry principles. Butter is one of them. Butter is made from cream, which is basically high fat content milk. When the cream is mixed with a churn, or shaken in a jar, the fat molecules start to stick together and separate from the liquid component of the cream. The portion that forms together becomes the butter, while the liquid left is called buttermilk. Click on the image to be taken to this cool experiment to try.
